SUIT FEES
A "suit fee" is a fee
payable because a lawsuit is filed. A suit fee compensates us for the
responsibility undertaken when a lawsuit is filed, whether or not a
recovery is made. Lawsuits in Arizona are governed by many rules of
procedure and responsibility. Once a lawsuit is filed there are many
duties, responsibilities and obligations that must be fulfilled.
A suit fee compensates us
for the responsibility and duties undertaken and the work performed when a
lawsuit is filed, whether or not a recovery is made.
A suit fee takes into
consideration the following:
-
the amount of
responsibility assumed and undertaken;
-
the time and labor
required, the novelty and difficulty of the questions involved, and the
skill requisite to perform the legal service properly;
-
the fee customarily
charged in the locality for similar legal services;
-
the time limitations
imposed by the client or by the circumstances; and
-
the experience,
reputation, and ability of the lawyer or lawyers performing the
services.
